My Artwork
Metal Scrap Animal
As our country’s population has grown, so has its taste for bushmeat. The drastic population decline of many wildlife species can now be attributed to an increase in the trade of “Nyama Ya Mu Sanga”. Illegal bushmeat is unregulated and unhygienically prepared and dangerous to eat. Alarmingly, the recent COVID-19 global pandemic has been linked to the illegal wildlife trade, which has been reported as the cause of many zoonotic diseases in humans. While bushmeat poses a huge threat to public health in Zambia, it poses an even bigger threat to wildlife populations.
Beauty In Junk
I see beauty in junk and encouraged young people to think twice before getting rid of metal with no regard for the environment. Popular in my work is bicycle chains, and some of his signature pieces usually include metal nails, house keys, old gardening tools and different car spares.

Creating Awareness
Bushmeat is primarily caught using wire snares. These silent and indiscriminate killers result in significant bycatch. This means that while they are created to capture animals for human consumption, the placement of snares in protected areas often results in the capture of many other vulnerable species such as elephants, lions and wild dogs, ultimately leading to ecosystem collapse, pushing species into extinction.
Let's Make A Difference
The message is simple: bushmeat is “illegal, dangerous and carries disease.” Instead, purchase your game meat from accredited legal suppliers, many of whom are members of the Wildlife Producers Association of Zambia. All legal game meat is certified by the Department of National Parks as wildlife is legally sourced and safe for human consumption - something that does not occur with illegal bushmeat. Be cautious of where you buy your bush meat from, as it can be meat from any wild animal. The meat is often smoked and dried in the most unsanitary of conditions. The processing of the meat is unsanitary and often different cuts from different species are mixed indiscriminately.
